Digital Manufacturing Systems Specialist (Biomedical)

In this dynamic role, you'll act as a liaison between Operations Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT), leveraging your understanding of both domains to deliver integrated solutions that meet the needs of the biomedical sector. You are expected to build and maintain strong relationships with our internal partners at Group Digital & Technology and Operational Excellence.

Your role will be instrumental in the digital journey of HNC/Biomedical by:

  • Supporting an empowered organization enabled by technology and data in the manufacturing domain.

  • Drive process and system innovation that enables Health, Nutrtion & Care/Biomedical to future-proof operations and scale with its international growth strategy.

  • Support our Strategic Biomaterial Manufacturing strategy deploying digital manufacturing capabilities at scale.

  • Support the organization in transforming their paper-based way of working, into a Digital First approach.

  • Being the gatekeepe of our end-to-end manufacturing processes.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) to our operations function, in close collaboration with the Digital Enablement Lead for Operations & Quality.

  • Act as the SME between Operations Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT).

  • Support the implementation of MES, QPLM, LIMS, and SAP solutions, ensuring seamless integration and scalability across sites.

  • Ensure cyber-secure integration between the IT and OT layer.

  • Serve as the manufacturing/operations technology expert leveraging industry best practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document requirements, design and implement solutions that optimize manufacturing processes and supply chain operations.

  • Collaborate with Computer Systems and Software Validation Engineer to ensure regulatory compliance and assess/identify risks.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system architecture diagrams, process flows, and user guides.

  • Provide functional and technical support to internal stakeholders and drive acumen building in the domain of operations technology.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, and compliance.

  • Support implementation projects, including config (collaboration with partners), testing, and deployment

  • Drive compliance with policies and regulations related to manufacturing area and software development within an FDA regulated environment.

  • Collaborate intensively with Group Digital Services (IT) and its partners in the execution of our digital programs and proof of concepts.

    You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • 5-8 years of experience in SCM and manufacturing solution design, preferably in the biomedical or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Proven expertise in integrating MES, Manufacturing Systems, PLM, LIMS, and SAP with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO).

  • Familiar with technologies such as Machine Vision, IoT, Edge Computing, Predictive Analytics amongst others.

  • Experience with Master Data Management in manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.

  • Experience supporting full lifecycle implementations of enterprise solutions, including requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing, and deployment.

  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools like Visio , MS Project & JIRA.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills all levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot.

  • Deep understanding of both OT and IT systems, including their architectures, protocols (e.g. OPC UA), and technologies. This includes knowledge of industrial control systems (ICS), SCADA systems, Historians, networking layers, cybersecurity principles, and IT infrastructure

  • Understanding of key manufacturing KPIs like OEE, Productivity and First Time Through Practical knowledge and experience of lean manufacturing, visual management and six sigma is desirable.
